Sesame Crusted Bristol Bay Wild Sockeye Salmon

In case you aren’t already in the know, my fierce farm-to-table friend and fellow Food Network Star Emma Frisch writes a fabulous food blog called Frisch Kitchen. Emma’s blog focuses on what she calls “food with roots,” and recently she started a brilliant campaign called #5days5ways, where she highlights one ingredient over 5 days and shows 5 unique ways to use it.

Last week, Emma rolled out #5days5ways for Bristol Bay wild sockeye salmon in order to draw attention to the current problems they are facing in the bay. Cape May Lobster Rolls

Or maybe I should say, “lawbstah rolls.” That’s how my grandfather would have said it.

My Pop-Pop Genovese, along with several of his brothers, and my uncle Mark all made their living as commercial fisherman.   My maternal great grandparents emigrated from Sicily in the early 1900’s to Gloucester, Massachusetts, a fishing village made famous by the book and movie “The Perfect Storm.

Back in the swingin’ sixties, Pop-Pop and two of his brothers purchased their own fishing vessel, “The White Dove,” and uprooted their families from Gloucester to Cape May, NJ in pursuit of a better opportunity.  Continue reading Cape May Lobster Rolls

A Tale of Two Seafood Cities

This past weekend was a doozie for us folks here in Atlantic City.
